Abstract
Objective: To estimate the prevalence of current e-cigarette and/or vaping use among students at the UdelaR Faculty of Dentistry. To compare data from two generations of students.
Methods: An anonymous and voluntary survey will be conducted among first- and fifth-year students of the Faculty of Dentistry (Doctor of Dentistry). The survey will ask about awareness of these devices, past and/or current use, and motivation for use. Additionally, the survey will ask about regular cigarette use and whether they consider e-cigarettes to be less harmful than regular cigarettes.
The prevalence of e-cigarette and/or vaping use will be estimated, and possible relationships with regular cigarette use will be evaluated. The data obtained from both populations will be compared.
Expected Results: To determine the prevalence of e-cigarette and vaping use in two populations of different ages and backgrounds in the same university program.
